NHS dental charges
NHS fees are based on a system of bands, so you pay for treatment according to which band of treatment is required.
Band | Cost |
---|---|
Band 1: Covers an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes X-rays, a scale and polish and planning for further treatment. | £26.80 |
Band 2: Covers all treatment covered by Band 1, plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment and removing teeth (extractions). | £59.10 |
Band 3: Covers all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures, such as crowns, dentures and bridges. | £256.50 |
Emergency: This covers emergency care in a primary care NHS dental practice such as pain relief or a temporary filling. | £26.80 |

NHS Dental Emergencies
If you require urgent dental treatment contact the practice as soon as possible. You will be charged the emergency fee of £21.40. If you're entitled to free NHS dental care, you should be able to claim back the cost of any treatment.
If you're asked to come back for further treatment, this will be considered to be a separate course of non-urgent treatment and you will be expected to pay the relevant charge for the new course of treatment.
